What is Microsoft .NET?
This question cannot be easily
answered in a few words.
Maybe like this: For a couple of
years .NET is Microsoft's essential software
strategy. It includes particulary the so-called .NET
Framework, that makes up the basis for development and execution of highly
productive applications. This concept is geared to software
communication and focuses on open standards like XML and Web
services.
Besides an extensive class library
several other components belong to this program. For example an
extended security concept, ASP.NET (the web sector) and tools like
the programming languages Visual Basic .NET or C# (used by us).
Since the launch of Windows Server
2003 operating system the .NET Framework forms part of the
Windows standard shipment. The new Windows 7 includes
version 3.5 of the Framework.
